A Modular Mobile Robotic Platform to Assist People with Different Degrees of Disability

Robotics to support elderly people in living independently and assist disabled carrying out the activities of daily have demonstrated good results. Basically, there are two approaches: one them is based on mobile robot assistants, such as Care-O-bot, PR2, Tiago, among others; other use an external robotic arm or a exoskeleton fixed mounted wheelchair. In this paper, modular platform moderately severely impaired upper limb robotized wheel chair presented. This can be customized for each user’s needs by exploiting its modularity. Finally, experimental results simulated home environment with room kitchen area, order simulate interaction user different elements home, experiment, subject suffering from multiple sclerosis performed (ADLs) using front group clinicians composed nurses, doctors, occupational therapists.
